Graphics credit: Skysail Brand Marketing & Design I have a little 'Throwback Story' to share! In August, 2021, I had the fortunate opportunity to have TABITHA + CO™ featured in Shoutout LA ~ Voyage LA Magazine. One of the reasons for agreeing to this featured opportunity was that this digital magazine highlights rising artists, creatives and many others that take a leap of faith in their abilities, step outside of their comfort zone and take a risk, while doing their best to make a difference for others. Shoutout LA's mission is to feature more about the extraordinary life stories of everyday humans, their journeys, struggles, values and sharing their background story with the hopes that these stories will resonate with the readers, in turn, building stronger communities of support and awareness to support local. Here is a glimpse of the interview: Mike Bhand: Hi Tabitha, what do you attribute your success to? Me: Success can be measured or viewed in many ways. For me personally, I would have to say that my success is that I believed in my own capabilities. I took a risk to follow my passion of design and started my company, TABITHA + CO™. This journey has certainly been faced with many challenges and lots of learning along the way. Each experience, good and bad throughout my life, was preparing me for where I am now, all of which I am grateful for.... Mike Bhand: Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to? Me: Are you ready to go on a holiday?! Close your eyes and imagine this!........... Fabrique 1840 was inspired by the Canadian Crafts Federation, a more than 100 year old national network that showcases pieces from the east coast to west and north to south, exploring Canada's creative wealth through the work of 70 professional craftspeople, including TABITHA + CO™. You will find unique jewellery, decorative accessories, and utilitarian objects that have been meticulously handcrafted by creators from across Canada that will enrich your everyday life with art and authenticity. Raw materials, like leather are transformed into durable, one-of-a-kind items that tell a story - the story of modern material culture. “We are delighted that this partnership is bringing the best of all participants together: professional artists, community engagement, an excellent market, and most of all - incredible work from craft artists across the country. Craft speaks for itself, but the story it tells is broad and meaningful. Buying craft is about more than a purchase - it becomes part of your personal collection, your personal story. Connecting with craft makes a difference, and the CCF is here to help connect people to that purpose.” ~ Maegen Black, Director, Canadian Crafts Federation. The Fabrique 1840 is presented by the National Bank of Canada in collaboration with the Canadian Crafts Federation, together providing valuable support that helps local businesses grow and, in turn, enrich our communities and our art, creating a strong network of mutual promotion and recognition. Fabrique 1840 Virtual Market is open until October 31st at simons.ca Enjoy exploring the creative work that these talented craftspeople have to offer!
